Vetsulin® VetPen® Cartridges are a pre-filled porcine insulin zinc suspension prescribed for dogs and cats to manage hyperglycemia associated with diabetes mellitus. This formulation is an intermediate-acting hormone therapy used to regulate blood glucose levels. The cartridges are engineered exclusively for use with the VetPen delivery system to facilitate precise dosing administration.

Vetsulin is an FDA-approved insulin product for dogs and cats, supplied in cartridges for the VetPen delivery device. According to the FDA-approved labeling, it is used to manage blood sugar in diabetic dogs and cats; your veterinarian determines the appropriate dose and schedule for your pet.

Insulin helps move glucose from the bloodstream into cells, supporting normal blood sugar regulation.

The actions described here reflect the product's FDA-approved labeling; your veterinarian determines the appropriate use for your animal.

Prescription only. Use only under the direction of a licensed veterinarian. This information is not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis, prescribing or monitoring.

Insulin dosing is individualized and adjusted by your veterinarian based on monitoring. Store cartridges as directed (typically refrigerated), roll — do not shake — the product before use per the labeling and use the correct pen and needle. Watch for signs of low blood sugar (weakness, disorientation, seizures) and contact your veterinarian immediately if they occur; never change the dose without veterinary guidance.

Do I need a prescription for this?

Yes. This is a prescription product and can only be dispensed by a licensed pharmacy after a valid prescription is received from a licensed veterinarian. Mixlab verifies every prescription before dispensing.

How is Vetsulin given with the VetPen?

The cartridge is loaded into the VetPen and the dose is dialed as your veterinary team demonstrates. Follow their instructions and the device manual.

How should it be stored?

Store as directed on the labeling, typically refrigerated and follow the mixing instructions before each dose.

What are signs of low blood sugar?

Weakness, wobbliness, disorientation or seizures. If you see these, follow your veterinarian's emergency guidance and contact them immediately.
