Virbac Epi-Otic Advanced Ear Cleanser is a non-irritating, alcohol-free ear solution formulated for dogs and cats to maintain healthy ears and manage chronic otitis externa. This advanced cleanser uses anti-adhesive technology to prevent bacteria and yeast from attaching to the ear canal while effectively removing cellular debris and excessive wax. It is particularly beneficial for pets with sensitive ears, as it features a neutral pH and a drying agent to discourage microbial growth without causing stinging.

Disodium Edta, Docusate Sodium, Pcmx, A Monosaccharide Complex (L-Rhamnose, D-Galactose, D-Mannose), and FD&C Blue #1.

Shake well before use. Apply the solution generously into the ear canal and gently massage the base of the ear. Use cotton or a moist cloth to wipe the interior of the ear flap. Repeat this process two to three times a week or daily for routine cleaning.

Epi-Otic Advanced is formulated as a gentle, neutral-pH ear cleanser combining salicylic acid and chloroxylenol, an antimicrobial ingredient, with an anti-adhesive technology studied for its role in helping prevent debris from sticking to the ear canal lining.

The solution is applied into the ear canal and massaged at the base of the ear before wiping the interior with a soft cloth, and is intended for routine ear hygiene and wax removal rather than treatment of a specific ear condition.

This is an over-the-counter product. Use according to the product labeling and your veterinarian's guidance. Available through Mixlab.

Epi-Otic Advanced is generally well tolerated and may irritate the eyes on contact — rinse with water if this occurs. For topical use only; do not use in ears with a ruptured eardrum. Avoid contact with the eyes, and discontinue use if skin or ear irritation develops. Wash your hands after application, and keep the product out of reach of children and other pets. Contact your veterinarian if your pet's ears remain red, painful, odorous, or itchy despite regular cleaning, since these signs may indicate an underlying issue that needs examination.

Do I need a prescription for this product?

No. This is an over-the-counter topical product and does not require a prescription. It's available for purchase directly through Mixlab.

How often should I clean my pet's ears with this?

Routine use is typically 1 to 3 times per week, or as directed by your veterinarian; your veterinarian may recommend more frequent use for a short period as part of an ear-care plan.

Can I use this if my pet has ear discharge or seems uncomfortable?

Talk to your veterinarian before using an ear cleanser if your pet's ears are painful, red, swollen, or have discharge or an odor, since these signs may need to be examined before cleansing.

Is this safe to use if my pet has ear tubes or a ruptured eardrum?

No — this product is not for use in ears with a ruptured eardrum. If your veterinarian has noted any eardrum concerns, ask them for specific guidance before using this or any ear cleanser.
