Normosol-R is a sterile, balanced electrolyte solution used to replace acute losses of extracellular fluid. Its composition is designed to mimic the principal ions of normal blood plasma to help restore fluid volume and correct electrolyte imbalances.

The solution contains a combination of sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, acetate, and gluconate ions.
