Minocycline HCl is a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic prescribed for dogs, cats, and horses to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It functions by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, targeting susceptible tick-borne diseases (such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis), respiratory tract infections, and deep tissue skin infections. This systemic antibiotic is frequently utilized when patients are intolerant to other tetracyclines or when dealing with highly lipophilic bacteria.

Use as directed by your veterinarian.

The uses and pharmacology described below reflect the FDA-approved labeling for this active ingredient; your veterinarian determines whether and how they apply to your animal's treatment plan.
