The MAB2 Kit is a compounded sedation-and-reversal kit for veterinary use, containing a sedation combination (medetomidine, azaperone and butorphanol) plus reversal agents (atipamezole and naltrexone). It is administered by a veterinarian. Available by prescription.

Use as directed by your veterinarian.

The MAB2 Kit is a compounded set of injectable agents used by veterinarians for field sedation and its reversal. The sedation component combines medetomidine (an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist), azaperone (a sedative) and butorphanol (an opioid analgesic); the kit also includes atipamezole and naltrexone as reversal agents. It is administered and monitored by a licensed veterinarian.

Medetomidine stimulates central alpha-2 adrenergic receptors to produce sedation; azaperone contributes calming effects; butorphanol provides analgesia. Atipamezole reverses the alpha-2 effects, and naltrexone is an opioid antagonist used as a reversal agent.
