Diazepam is a benzodiazepine tranquilizer used in veterinary medicine as an anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and muscle relaxant. It can be given orally, intravenously, or rectally (for seizures) to dogs and cats; veterinarians use diazepam to stop active seizures, calm anxious animals, or stimulate appetite (especially in cats), making it a versatile medication under careful supervision.
