Denamarin Chewable Tablets offer the same powerful liver-support benefits as the original tablets but in a tasty, liver-flavored format that is easier to administer to pets. Unlike the enteric-coated tablets, these chews are designed to be broken or chewed, making them an ideal choice for dogs that struggle with swallowing whole pills. They provide a convenient way to support hepatic function and antioxidant levels in dogs of any breed or weight.

The active ingredients per chewable tablet are 225 mg of S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) and 82 mg of Silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex (which provides 24 mg of Silybin A+B). The inactive ingredients include Poultry Meal, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae (Yeast), Magnesium Stearate, Mixed Tocopherols, Natural and Artificial Flavors, and Silicon Dioxide.

For dogs up to 12 lbs, give one 90mg/9mg chew daily; for dogs 13 to 34 lbs, give one 225mg/24mg chew daily; and for larger dogs, follow the specific weight-based count on the package (e.g., one 425mg/35mg chew for dogs 35 to 65 lbs). While these are chewable, they are still most effective when given on an empty stomach at least one hour before a meal.

Denamarin Chewable Tablets is a supplement combining S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) and silybin (a milk thistle-derived compound, provided as a silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex), ingredients studied in the context of liver cell health.

SAMe is a naturally occurring molecule involved in several biochemical pathways in the liver, including the production of glutathione, one of the body's antioxidants. Silybin is a compound derived from milk thistle that is studied for its antioxidant properties at the cellular level. As a multi-ingredient nutraceutical, this combination is not reviewed or approved by the FDA in the way a drug would be; your veterinarian determines whether a liver-support supplement is appropriate for your animal.

This description reflects general information about the supplement's ingredients; your veterinarian determines whether this product is appropriate for your animal.

This information describes a dietary supplement. Supplements are not evaluated by the FDA for safety or effectiveness and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Consult your veterinarian before use.

This supplement is generally well tolerated in dogs; mild digestive changes such as decreased appetite, vomiting, or soft stool are occasionally reported, particularly when starting the supplement. SAMe tablets are enteric-coated in most formulations and should not be split or crushed unless your veterinarian specifically directs otherwise, as this can affect absorption. Contact your veterinarian if you notice persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or a lack of appetite. As with any supplement, keep your veterinarian informed of everything your dog receives so they can watch for potential interactions and confirm the product remains appropriate.

Do I need a prescription for this supplement?

No. This is a dietary supplement and does not require a prescription. It's available for purchase directly through Mixlab.

Should this be given with food or on an empty stomach?

SAMe absorption can be affected by food; many labels recommend giving it on an empty stomach. Follow the label directions and your veterinarian's specific instructions for your animal.

Can this be given alongside other medications?

Let your veterinarian know about all other medications and supplements your animal is taking so they can advise on how this fits into your animal's overall plan, particularly around timing with other oral medications.

How long is this supplement typically used for?

Duration varies by animal and by what your veterinarian is monitoring. Your veterinarian will advise on an appropriate length of use and any recommended bloodwork or rechecks.
